According to its most recent quarterly financial filing to regulators, Samsung, the largest memory maker in the world, sold approximately 1.58 million shares, or 0.4%, of ASML, with the stake valued at around 1.26 trillion won ($930 million) as of the end of September.
In 2012, Samsung purchased a 3% stake in the Dutch chip gear maker for about 700 billion won.
Around four years later, the company sold half of its stake, while it has gradually reduced its position in the company since the second quarter of last year.
