Major U.S. stock indexes were struggling to make any big moves on Friday as a traders returned from the Thanksgiving Day holiday, in line with holiday-shortened Black Friday trading sessions over more than three decades.
U.S. stock exchanges are due to close at 1 p.m. Eastern on Friday, three hours earlier than usual. As the table below from Dow Jones Market Data shows, trading on the day after Thanksgiving has not tended to produce big moves on average.
