Best Buy Co. is recalling more than 900,000 Insignia pressure cookers following numerous reports that their contents were expelled under pressure, leading in some cases to severe burn injuries.
According to a note on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website Thursday, the recall involves 6- and 8-quart Insignia pressure cookers.
The pressure cookers, which were made in China and imported by Best Buy

were sold from October 2017 through June 2023 at Best Buy’s stores and on its website for between $50 and $120.
“Best Buy has received 31 reports of incidents in which the contents were expelled under pressure, including 17 reports of burn injuries, some of which involved reports of second-degree and severe burns,” the CPSC’s recall notice said.
The recall involves about 930,000 pressure cookers.
The pressure cookers have incorrect volume markings on the inner pot, which can lead to the pots being overfilled. That can cause the contents to be ejected when the pressure cooker is vented using the quick-release method or is opened while contents are being pressurized.
Best Buy’s stock slipped 0.1% in morning trading Thursday. It has tumbled 19.8% over the past three months, while the SPDR S&P Retail exchange-traded fund
