In light of the strike, Stellantis disclosed that 1,340 employees are currently on temporary layoff across three states, with the company recently confirming the layoff of 700 employees at two facilities in Indiana.
Ford said that it will be imposing temporary layoffs on an additional 550 employees, following the UAW walkouts at its Kentucky Truck Plant and Chicago Assembly Plant.
Starting from Monday, Ford announced plans to lay off approximately 300 employees at an Ohio transmission plant, along with about 250 employees at four Michigan plants and an additional 12 in Chicago.
With this recent announcement, Ford has, in total, laid off 2,480 employees since the strike began on September 15.
The automaker has issued a cautionary statement, suggesting that a dozen facilities could potentially be impacted by the strike of the Kentucky Truck plant, which happens to be its largest factory worldwide.
As the strike continues, just over 34,000 UAW workers at the Detroit Three are currently involved in the strike.
General Motors (NYSE:GM) has approximately 2,300 employees on temporary layoff.
Shares of GM and F are up 0.64% and 0.51%, respectively in pre-market trading, while shares of STLA are down 0.51% Monday morning.
