At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.55%, while the MDAX index declined 0.51%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN), which rose 4.27% or 7.24 points to trade at 176.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) added 3.60% or 1.64 points to end at 47.15 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 1.96% or 0.20 points to 10.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG), which fell 2.74% or 4.25 points to trade at 151.00 at the close. Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:DPWGn) declined 2.60% or 1.14 points to end at 42.90 and Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) was down 2.06% or 0.38 points to 17.81.
The top performers on the MDAX were K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which rose 2.65% to 15.72, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 30.10 and Fraport AG (ETR:FRAG) which gained 1.72% to close at 49.58.
The worst performers were Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which was down 3.16% to 15.19 in late trade, Talanx AG NA O.N. (ETR:TLXGn) which lost 2.91% to settle at 51.80 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was down 2.67% to 32.80 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which rose 4.18% to 28.44, Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was up 1.76% to settle at 30.10 and Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which gained 1.41% to close at 27.41.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) which was down 3.90% to 71.50 in late trade, ADTRAN Holdingsa Inc (ETR:QH9) which lost 2.83% to settle at 9.40 and Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 2.06% to 37.02 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 422 to 240 and 86 ended unchanged.
Shares in Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.27% or 7.24 to 176.68. Shares in Merck KGaA (ETR:MRCG) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.74% or 4.25 to 151.00. Shares in Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.60% or 1.64 to 47.15.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.14% to 14.24.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.55 to $1,945.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.88% or 1.34 to hit $72.53 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.55% or 1.18 to trade at $77.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.53% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 101.78.
