France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.21%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.21% to hit a new all time high, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.17%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which rose 1.54% or 0.44 points to trade at 29.28 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 1.48% or 2.56 points to end at 175.62 and Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) was up 1.27% or 0.14 points to 11.02 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which fell 2.10% or 0.96 points to trade at 45.05 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.75% or 0.48 points to end at 26.90 and Vivendi SA (EPA:VIV) was down 1.72% or 0.17 points to 9.90.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES Imagotag (EPA:SESL) which rose 3.32% to 112.00, Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which was up 3.12% to settle at 155.45 and SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which gained 2.39% to close at 23.16.

The worst performers were Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was down 8.95% to 10.38 in late trade, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which lost 5.38% to settle at 10.91 and Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 4.73% to 3.18 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 290 to 246 and 94 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.55% or 11.05 to $2,008.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.82% or 1.47 to hit $79.43 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.66% or 1.41 to trade at $83.36 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.26% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 101.56.
