France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 1.51%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.51%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.46%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which rose 3.40% or 0.96 points to trade at 29.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (EPA:RENA) added 2.80% or 1.13 points to end at 41.71 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (EPA:MICP) was up 2.74% or 0.81 points to 30.20 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF), which fell 0.52% or 1.30 points to trade at 248.80 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) declined 0.40% or 0.06 points to end at 13.96 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) was down 0.38% or 0.21 points to 55.72.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (EPA:ERMT) which rose 7.79% to 101.70, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 6.44% to settle at 3.54 and Korian Medica SA (EPA:KORI) which gained 5.44% to close at 7.56.

The worst performers were Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was down 4.11% to 13.76 in late trade, SES (EPA:SESFd) which lost 3.45% to settle at 6.99 and BIC (EPA:BICP) which was down 1.39% to 60.40 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 339 to 222 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.40% or 0.96 to 29.38.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.48% or 8.75 to $1,825.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.46% or 0.35 to hit $75.97 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.69% or 0.57 to trade at $82.25 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.52% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.48% at 104.65.
