Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.38%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.38%, while the MDAX index gained 0.86%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.63%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which rose 7.01% or 0.66 points to trade at 10.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Linde PLC (ETR:LINI) added 2.42% or 7.15 points to end at 302.80 and Covestro AG (ETR:1COV) was up 2.38% or 0.95 points to 40.94 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which fell 0.84% or 0.27 points to trade at 32.04 at the close. Zalando SE (ETR:ZALG) declined 0.78% or 0.28 points to end at 35.72 and MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) was down 0.66% or 1.20 points to 181.30.

The top performers on the MDAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) which rose 6.55% to 7.71, Aurubis AG (ETR:NAFG) which was up 3.24% to settle at 88.66 and Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which gained 3.13% to close at 57.75.

The worst performers were Wacker Chemie O.N. (ETR:WCHG) which was down 3.86% to 160.85 in late trade, K&S AG (ETR:SDFGn) which lost 3.27% to settle at 27.85 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:RHMG) which was down 1.82% to 188.30 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which rose 3.49% to 12.15, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:O2Dn) which was up 2.41% to settle at 2.84 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which gained 2.30% to close at 36.54.

The worst performers were Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which was down 1.89% to 41.48 in late trade, Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which lost 1.50% to settle at 19.33 and S&T AG (ETR:SANT1) which was down 1.48% to 16.59 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 480 to 207 and 77 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 5.11% to 25.62 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 5.14 to $1,847.24 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.30% or 0.33 to hit $109.95 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.13 to trade at $110.12 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 1.09% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.47% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.92% at 102.22.
