Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 0.64%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.64%, while the MDAX index lost 0.84%, and the TecDAX index declined 1.73%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN), which rose 1.33% or 0.89 points to trade at 67.73 at the close. Meanwhile, Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) added 1.12% or 2.70 points to end at 243.40 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (DE:ALVG) was up 1.08% or 2.35 points to 219.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER), which fell 5.71% or 2.35 points to trade at 38.83 at the close. Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) declined 5.33% or 2.45 points to end at 43.50 and HelloFresh SE (DE:HFGG) was down 4.31% or 1.72 points to 38.19.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.97% to 20.47, Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was up 3.99% to settle at 202.00 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which gained 2.95% to close at 51.36.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 8.58% to 130.50 in late trade, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which lost 5.82% to settle at 50.95 and Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which was down 5.28% to 45.20 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which rose 4.97% to 20.47, Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was up 1.56% to settle at 2.73 and Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which gained 0.83% to close at 17.10.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was down 8.58% to 130.50 in late trade, Suse SA (DE:SUSEG) which lost 6.41% to settle at 29.20 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 5.82% to 50.95 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 440 to 253 and 75 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.33% or 0.89 to 67.73. Shares in Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.33% or 2.45 to 43.50. Shares in Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.56% or 0.04 to 2.73.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.21% to 29.30.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.14% or 2.80 to $1,942.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.22% or 4.15 to hit $94.11 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 4.49% or 4.61 to trade at $98.17 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 100.00.
