At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.24%, while the MDAX index lost 0.06%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG), which rose 3.35% or 2.22 points to trade at 68.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) added 2.24% or 10.000 points to end at 455.900 and Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) was up 2.08% or 1.60 points to 78.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p), which fell 2.39% or 1.90 points to trade at 77.52 at the close. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG) declined 2.00% or 1.220 points to end at 59.820 and E.ON SE (DE:EONGn) was down 1.64% or 0.202 points to 12.094.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 7.80% to 101.500, TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which was up 4.48% to settle at 13.65 and Fuchs Petrolub AG VZO Pref (DE:FPEG_p) which gained 3.95% to close at 39.480.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 7.10% to 96.520 in late trade, K&S AG (DE:SDFGn) which lost 6.69% to settle at 17.655 and Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which was down 4.33% to 6.820 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were TeamViewer AG (DE:TMV) which rose 4.48% to 13.65, S&T AG (DE:SANT1) which was up 3.27% to settle at 15.14 and Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which gained 2.41% to close at 36.050.
The worst performers were Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was down 7.10% to 96.520 in late trade, Nagarro SE (DE:NA9n) which lost 3.36% to settle at 158.00 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 2.28% to 124.100 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 390 to 306 and 82 ended unchanged.
Shares in Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) rose to all time highs; rising 7.80% or 7.340 to 101.500. Shares in Varta AG (DE:VAR1) fell to 52-week lows; down 7.10% or 7.380 to 96.520. The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 17.74% to 20.84.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.61% or 29.25 to $1841.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.98% or 0.83 to hit $85.66 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.87% or 0.76 to trade at $88.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.1346, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8324.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 95.523.
