A new version of Polestar’s high-riding electric sedan costs $14,000 less than the current model. Even though it’s the cheapest model in the Volvo

subsidiary’s lineup, the new single-motor 2022 Polestar 2 actually boasts a greater electric range than the costlier dual-motor version.
Polestar says the single-motor model, which will cost $45,900 prior to a mandatory $1,300 destination charge, will be capable of an estimated 265 miles of all-electric range.

The automaker also announced a hefty price cut for the dual-motor version, which for 2022 sees a 16-mile range boost to 249 miles. The 2022 Polestar 2 dual-motor version will start at $49,900, a $10,000 discount over the 2021 model.
On both, two option packages are available. The $4,000 Plus package adds a mechanical heat pump, a panoramic glass roof, a Harman Kardon audio system, and leather-free upholstery. The $3,200 Pilot Pack adds a host of active safety tech gleaned from parent company Volvo, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, and a 360-degree camera.

The dual-motor version is further available with a $5,000 Performance package that adds Ohlins dampers, Brembo

Volvo launched the Polestar brand first with the retro-style Polestar 1 coupe, but the 2 is the division’s first mainstream model and it’s available through an increasingly large number of showrooms. An SUV called Polestar 3 is due next year.
