Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.33%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.33%, while the MDAX index added 0.44%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.23%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN), which rose 4.31% or 12.15 points to trade at 294.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.66% or 0.898 points to end at 34.608 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) was up 2.41% or 1.300 points to 55.140 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which fell 1.54% or 1.060 points to trade at 67.610 at the close. E.ON SE (DE:EONGn) declined 0.85% or 0.075 points to end at 8.731 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) was down 0.81% or 0.122 points to 14.918.

The top performers on the MDAX were Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which rose 7.56% to 21.480, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) which was up 6.74% to settle at 9.850 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which gained 3.85% to close at 27.480.

The worst performers were Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) which was down 2.85% to 10.225 in late trade, Metro Wholesale & Food Specialist AG (DE:B4B) which lost 2.08% to settle at 9.8700 and Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 1.76% to 45.235 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were LPKF Laser & Electronics (DE:LPKG) which rose 3.56% to 27.650, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) which was up 3.41% to settle at 50.400 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) which gained 2.66% to close at 34.608.

The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 2.80% to 20.110 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.61% to settle at 24.500 and New Work SE (DE:NWOn) which was down 1.57% to 250.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 371 to 286 and 35 ended unchanged.

Shares in Covestro AG (DE:1COV) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.41% or 1.300 to 55.140. Shares in Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (DE:EUZG) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.41% or 1.660 to 50.400.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.21% to 23.64.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.36% or 6.50 to $1836.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.19 to trade at $54.91 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.2076, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8896.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 90.760.
