Fresh off the sale of her Sherman Oaks chateau, pop-punk singer Avril Lavigne has headed to the coast and purchased a modern Malibu property for $7.8 million, Variety reported.
The musician recorded a minor discount with the purchase, which closed at the end of October. The property had come on the market in May for $8.45 million. The pitch-perfect property was built in 1968 and then redone by the popular Malibu designer Scott Gillen.

The single-story, minimalist design is filled with luxe touches, beginning with the dramatic ocean views seen from the great room through a wall of glass doors that open to a deck, lawn, and pool.
The layout offers a main house and separate guesthouse, for a total of four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, in 3,455 square feet.
Details include wide glass doors, wood floors, exposed beam ceilings, custom cabinetry, and a floor plan that encourages indoor-outdoor living.
The ocean-view great room features a large sitting area with a fireplace, a gourmet kitchen with a breakfast bar and built-in desk, and an open dining area that overlooks the Pacific.
A master suite also overlooks the ocean and features vaulted ceilings, a luxe bath, access outside, and a custom closet with rolling ladder.
Other perks include a temperature-controlled wine closet, infrared sauna, and a two-car garage with a large attached suite and bath, perfect for staff or longer-term guests.
Set on over a half-acre of picturesque and private grounds, the upper patio area comes with a fire pit, dining and seating areas, and a built-in barbecue island. Step down terraced planters to the lower pool deck, along with a lawn, and a gate to a lookout spot.
The 36-year-old chanteuse had more recently attempted to sell a European-style mansion in Sherman Oaks, CA, that she bought with her ex-husband, the Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.
The couple purchased the palatial property in 2015 for $5,995,000, only months before they split. The home made it on to the market 2018 with an optimistic $8 million price tag.
Still on the market the following year, the ask dropped to $7.5 million. After several more discounts, the home eventually sold for $5 million this year, leaving the exes with a significant loss.
Sherman Oaks estate
Previously, Lavigne had owned a Bel-Air mansion that she purchased with her first husband, Deryck Whibley. After they divorced in 2010, the two put their swanky estate up for sale for $9.5 million in 2011.
The Canadian pop star sold the home to the NBA star Chris Paul in 2012, for $8,495,000. After Paul was traded away from L.A., he sold the home, which is now reportedly owned by Michael and Fariba Rad, the parents of the founder of Tinder, Sean Rad, Variety notes.
The chart-topping singer and songwriter is best known for her song “Complicated,” from the album “Let Go,” which earned her five Grammy nominations. The rock star has sold 30 million singles and 40 million copies of her albums worldwide.
