Protecting the U.S. from terrorism ranked as the leading issue for President Donald Trump’s supporters in the 2020 election, while controlling COVID-19’s spread got the most support among Democratic challenger Joe Biden’s backers.
That’s according to exit polling conducted by Morning Consult.
The economic recovery and lowering the unemployment rate rated as the No. 2 and No. 3 most popular priorities for Trump voters. They also said containing the coronavirus pandemic was very important, but just 59% stated that vs. 83% for the terrorism issue, 80% for the recovery and 71% for joblessness.
Unifying the country (84%) and universal health-care coverage (83%) were the No. 2 and No. 3 most popular issues for Biden voters, behind controlling COVID (93%).

Trump and Biden voters agreed that they just want the election to be over. Some 90% of Biden’s supporters and 84% of Trump’s backed that view, leading to the smallest gap between the two sides among nine feelings tested, Morning Consult found.
In the 2018 midterm election, health care XLV, +1.45% ranked as the most important issue for voters, while immigration was No. 2 and the economy was third.
