Thank you for your service, but no mask, no service.
That’s basically the message Delta Air Lines DAL, -0.18% has for Robert O’Neill, the ex-Navy SEAL who claims he killed Osama bin Laden. O’Neill recently tweeted — and deleted — this image of himself not wearing a mask near another man in a Marines cap actually complying with the rules:
O’Neill, a vocal skeptic of the seriousness of the coronavirus, went on to explain it was merely a joke that missed the mark. ”This was not a dig at the Marine behind me,” he tweeted. “I love Marines.”
Delta said it’s reviewing the incident.
“All customers who don’t comply with our mask-wearing requirement risk losing their ability to fly Delta in the future,” the airline told the NY Post. “Medical research tells us that wearing a mask is one of the most effective ways to reduce the COVID-19 infection rate.”
O’Neill, of course, isn’t the only one refusing to comply. Earlier this month, Delta CEO Ed Bastian told CNN the airline had already banned “well over 100 people” for refusing to wear masks.
