France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.90%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.90%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.98%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 5.62% or 0.54 points to trade at 10.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 5.03% or 4.64 points to end at 96.92 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was up 3.59% or 2.72 points to 78.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which fell 1.29% or 0.13 points to trade at 9.98 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) declined 1.15% or 1.70 points to end at 146.60 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was down 0.89% or 0.22 points to 24.44.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 7.42% to 0.840, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 6.83% to settle at 3.79 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 6.83% to close at 2.39.

The worst performers were BIC (PA:BICP) which was down 1.85% to 50.35 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 1.66% to settle at 70.08 and Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which was down 1.30% to 10.64 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 358 to 204 and 90 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.67% to 23.05 a new 3-months low.

Gold Futures for October delivery was up 1.24% or 25.00 to $2033.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.21% or 0.92 to hit $42.62 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.45% or 1.09 to trade at $45.52 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.63% to 1.1874, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.9044.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 92.748.
