At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 1.24%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST), which rose 0.19% or 0.30 points to trade at 155.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) added 0.18% or 0.40 points to end at 224.40 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) was up 0.13% or 1.00 points to 767.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which fell 4.61% or 1.06 points to trade at 22.02 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 4.20% or 0.61 points to end at 14.04 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was down 3.47% or 1.00 points to 27.85.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 4.69% to 9.28, Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) which was up 3.24% to settle at 38.20 and Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which gained 2.05% to close at 13.41.
The worst performers were Akka Technologies (PA:AKA) which was down 6.81% to 25.30 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 6.73% to settle at 33.945 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) which was down 4.61% to 22.02 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 376 to 187 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in Albioma SA (PA:ABIO) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.24% or 1.20 to 38.20.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.37% to 27.85.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.68% or 12.25 to $1822.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.96% or 0.39 to hit $41.01 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.30 to trade at $43.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.59% to 1.1336, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.8995.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 96.412.
