Germany stocks mixed at close of trade; DAX down 0.64%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.64%, while the MDAX index lost 0.10%, and the TecDAX index added 0.13%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG), which rose 4.08% or 0.127 points to trade at 3.227 at the close. Meanwhile, Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DE:LHAG) added 1.18% or 0.104 points to end at 8.954 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.88% or 0.420 points to 47.990 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG), which fell 2.24% or 1.97 points to trade at 86.09 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 1.93% or 0.890 points to end at 45.165 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was down 1.82% or 2.51 points to 135.27.

The top performers on the MDAX were Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) which rose 4.74% to 102.65, Varta AG (DE:VAR1) which was up 2.34% to settle at 104.800 and Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) which gained 1.56% to close at 87.850.

The worst performers were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn) which was down 3.90% to 10.2300 in late trade, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which lost 2.58% to settle at 6.42 and Grenke N AG (DE:GLJn) which was down 2.36% to 68.25 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which rose 5.66% to 171.70, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was up 4.08% to settle at 3.227 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 2.73% to close at 26.300.

The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 1.94% to 47.620 in late trade, Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which lost 1.18% to settle at 14.287 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) which was down 1.06% to 14.980 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 385 to 270 and 81 ended unchanged.

Shares in Delivery Hero AG (DE:DHER) rose to all time highs; up 4.74% or 4.65 to 102.65. Shares in Gerresheimer AG (DE:GXIG) rose to all time highs; up 1.56% or 1.350 to 87.850. Shares in Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.66% or 9.20 to 171.70.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.41% to 31.05.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 2.40 to $1787.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.91% or 0.37 to hit $40.28 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.83% or 0.36 to trade at $42.78 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1243, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.9019.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 97.175.
