Key Words: Rudy Giuliani calls Black Lives Matter ‘a Marxist organization’

Rudy Giuliani stopped to speak with reporters in the White House driveway on Wednesday, and his impromptu presser featured the former NYC mayor:

  • Calling the Black Lives Matter movement a Marxist organization.
  • Slamming the New York Times for running the story about alleged Russian bounties on American soldiers.
  • Questioning Joe Biden’s cognitive ability to serve as president.
  • Branding Democratic mayors as “a danger to their people.”

The president’s personal attorney opened by backing Trump’s tweet from earlier in the day, which had called the Times report that Russia was secretly offering bounties to the Taliban for the deaths of Americans — and that intelligence officials attempted to brief Trump on it — a “hoax” and “fake news.”

Giuliani described the anonymous source who leaked the story to the Times as “some kind of a deep state criminal” who “should go to jail for 20 or 30 years.” And he called the Times “phony” for running with the story while the intelligence behind it remains disputed.

“Black Lives Matter is a Marxist organization run by three avowed Marxists.”

“If [the Times] cared about our country, they wouldn’t use it,” he said, stating that leaking the story has blown any chance of getting to the bottom of what happened. “You blew the investigation, you blew sources and you blew methods, and you might’ve put people’s lives at stake,” he continued. “[The Times] didn’t care as long as they could hurt Trump with another phony story.”

And that led Giuliani to pounce on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

“Joe Biden, remember, isn’t all there. He’s not working with a full deck. If you don’t see that, there’s something wrong with you.”

“Anybody acting on that intelligence, like Joe Biden would, would be acting irresponsibly,” Giuliani said, before calling Biden “a cognitively-impaired man” who “should not be president,” which has been a favorite line of attack for the Trump campaign against Biden. (It should be noted that while Biden is 77, Trump is 74 and Giuliani is 76.)

“But Joe Biden, remember, isn’t all there. He’s not working with a full deck. If you don’t see that, there’s something wrong with you,” Giuliani continued, before making fun of Biden’s performance during a press conference on Tuesday. “He took long pauses answering questions, and he had a teleprompter,” Giuliani said.

But when asked about New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announcing that a Black Lives Matter mural will be painted on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, Giuliani — who served as the Big Apple’s mayor for eight years — really went off.

“Black Lives Matter is a Marxist organization run by three avowed Marxists. Go check,” Giuliani said. He was likely referring to a newly-surfaced 2015 video that shows Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors referring to herself and her fellow organizers as “trained Marxists.”

“We are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories,” she said in the interview on The Real News Network. “And I think that what we really tried to do is build a movement that could be utilized by many, many Black folk.”

Black Lives Matter was not immediately available for comment.

Giuliani further described BLM as a group that’s been “planning to destroy the police for three years,” and said that they’ve “finally gotten stupid Democratic mayors to agree with them.”

He then claimed that “lawlessness” is running rampant in cities run by Democrats, without actually naming any. He has tweeted against de Blasio and Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, however, who are both Democrats.

“Democratic mayors, they are a disaster,” he concluded. “They are a danger to their people.”
