France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.62%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.62%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.68%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 3.56% or 0.47 points to trade at 13.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 2.98% or 0.42 points to end at 14.53 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 2.01% or 1.78 points to 90.54 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO), which fell 3.80% or 2.46 points to trade at 62.28 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 3.14% or 2.06 points to end at 63.62 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was down 2.39% or 0.70 points to 28.55.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which rose 5.08% to 92.05, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which was up 3.56% to settle at 13.83 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 3.25% to close at 22.22.

The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was down 6.49% to 8.76 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which lost 6.39% to settle at 6.65 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 6.29% to 41.545 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 344 to 218 and 104 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 7.09% to 32.74.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.78% or 13.65 to $1766.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.46% or 0.58 to hit $40.41 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.45% or 0.61 to trade at $42.80 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.76% to 1.1260, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.9034.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 96.990.
