‘It is so unseemly for a former president to take the virtual commencement ceremony for a series of historically black colleges and universities and turn it into a political drive-by shooting.’

That’s Karl Rove, former President George W. Bush senior adviser, slamming Barack Obama’s commencement speech in a Fox News interview on Monday.

“This is a moment where these young graduates could be inspired to a life of service, to recognize that life is going to bring challenges and how we handle these challenges is going to demonstrate our character,” Rove added, pointing to Obama’s contention that those in charge of the coronavirus response — he didn’t call out President Trump directly — have no idea what they’re doing.

Ex-Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor fired back, claiming that Rove “absolutely chose these words on purpose,” and that Fox News is just using him to “stoke racial resentment.”
