Japan stocks higher at close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 7.04%

At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 7.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Softbank Group Corp. (T:9984), which rose 18.95% or 604.0 points to trade at 3791.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) added 18.29% or 610.0 points to end at 3945.0 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T:8035) was up 18.03% or 3085.0 points to 20195.0 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Keio Corp. (T:9008), which fell 4.36% or 270.0 points to trade at 5920.0 at the close. Central Japan Railway Co. (T:9022) declined 4.27% or 770.0 points to end at 17280.0 and NTT Docomo, Inc. (T:9437) was down 3.92% or 126.0 points to 3088.0.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3223 to 527 and 56 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 54.47.

Crude oil for May delivery was up 4.75% or 1.11 to $24.47 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 3.66% or 0.99 to hit $28.02 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 1.78% or 27.90 to trade at $1595.50 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was down 0.51% to 110.63, while EUR/JPY rose 0.49% to 119.81.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.07% at 102.135.
