Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the rose 0.21%.

The best performers of the session on the were Breville Group Ltd (ASX:), which rose 27.63% or 5.52 points to trade at 25.50 at the close. Meanwhile, TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX:) added 9.99% or 0.730 points to end at 8.040 and Lynas Corporation Ltd (ASX:) was up 8.06% or 0.170 points to 2.280 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX:), which fell 6.16% or 0.730 points to trade at 11.130 at the close. Inghams Group Ltd (ASX:) declined 5.33% or 0.20 points to end at 3.55 and Downer Edi Ltd (ASX:) was down 4.54% or 0.330 points to 6.940.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 613 to 553 and 345 ended unchanged.

Shares in Breville Group Ltd (ASX:) rose to all time highs; gaining 27.63% or 5.52 to 25.50. Shares in Treasury Wine Estates Ltd (ASX:) fell to 3-years lows; down 6.16% or 0.730 to 11.130. Shares in TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.99% or 0.730 to 8.040.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 3.53% to 13.278.

Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.37% or 5.75 to $1577.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.06% or 0.03 to hit $51.14 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.17 to trade at $55.62 a barrel.

AUD/USD was down 0.36% to 0.6713, while AUD/JPY fell 0.61% to 73.71.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 98.903.
