The worst performers of the session were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:), which fell 19.26% or 1500.0 points to trade at 6290.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:) declined 6.44% or 390.0 points to end at 5670.0 and IHI Corp. (T:) was down 5.59% or 155.0 points to 2617.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3212 to 485 and 99 ended unchanged.
