The best performers of the session on the were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.31% or 24.40 points to trade at 760.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS:) added 3.50% or 6.90 points to end at 203.50 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:) was up 2.67% or 12.75 points to 490.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yes Bank Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.44% or 0.70 points to trade at 48.00 at the close. Wipro Ltd (NS:) declined 1.02% or 2.55 points to end at 247.55 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:) was down 0.63% or 19.30 points to 3042.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.33% to 760.70, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.27% to settle at 189.00 and State Bank Of India (BO:) which gained 2.24% to close at 337.25.
The worst performers were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.44% to 48.00 in late trade, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 0.42% to settle at 1687.00 and Tata Motors Ltd DVR (BO:) which was down 0.21% to 72.65 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 969 to 588 and 74 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1447 rose and 975 declined, while 157 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.37% to 10.5250 a new all time low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.10% or 1.45 to $1515.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.39% or 0.24 to hit $61.92 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.37% or 0.25 to trade at $68.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 71.396, while EUR/INR rose 0.55% to 79.5355.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 96.865.
