The best performers of the session on the were Tosoh Corp. (T:), which rose 5.21% or 87.0 points to trade at 1757.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Inpex Corp. (T:) added 3.97% or 43.5 points to end at 1138.5 and Olympus Corp. (T:) was up 3.89% or 62.5 points to 1669.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dentsu Inc. (T:), which fell 6.28% or 260.0 points to trade at 3880.0 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:) declined 3.00% or 30.0 points to end at 970.0 and Amada Co., Ltd. (T:) was down 2.31% or 30.0 points to 1270.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2372 to 1157 and 251 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.10% or 0.06 to $60.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $65.44 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.65 to trade at $1481.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 109.58, while EUR/JPY rose 0.10% to 122.11.
