Meanwhile, Galaxy Resources Ltd (ASX:) added 9.88% or 0.085 points to end at 0.945 and Lynas Corporation Ltd (ASX:) was up 8.86% or 0.210 points to 2.580 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Silver Lake Resources Ltd (ASX:), which fell 9.20% or 0.115 points to trade at 1.135 at the close. Evolution Mining Ltd (ASX:) declined 7.83% or 0.300 points to end at 3.530 and Gold Road Resources Ltd (ASX:) was down 7.02% or 0.085 points to 1.125.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 667 to 448 and 315 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.10% or 1.45 to $1470.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.57% or 0.34 to hit $59.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.69% or 0.44 to trade at $64.64 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.24% to 0.6925, while AUD/JPY rose 0.51% to 75.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 96.822.
