‘Do it now, fast,’ President Donald Trump said Thursday about impeachment and moving to a Senate trial.

President Donald Trump urged Democrats to hurry up with impeachment, saying he wanted a fair Senate trial and to move the country “back to business.”

‘DO IT NOW, FAST’

While maintaining Democrats have no case against him over his dealings with Ukraine, Trump said on Twitter: “if you are going to impeach me, do it now, fast, so we can have a fair trial in the Senate, and so that our Country can get back to business.”

Trump’s tweets came shortly before House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she was asking the House Judiciary Committee to proceed with drafting articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

In his tweets Trump also said he wanted Joe Biden and his son Hunter to testify at a Senate trial, something the former vice president has said he won’t do. He also said he wanted Pelosi to testify.

Trump’s and Pelosi’s statements came a day after the judiciary panel held its first hearing on impeachment. Three legal experts told the committee that Trump’s attempts to have Ukraine investigate Democratic rivals are grounds for impeachment.

Now read: Democrats say they’re ready to press on with impeachment process.

U.S. stocks, DJIA, -0.06%, which have largely ignored Democrats’ impeachment inquiry against Trump, opened higher on Thursday over persisting U.S.-China trade optimism.
