The best performers of the session on the were Afterpay Touch Group Ltd (ASX:), which rose 7.05% or 2.150 points to trade at 32.640 at the close. Meanwhile, Caltex Australia Ltd (ASX:) added 6.97% or 1.940 points to end at 29.790 and Webjet Ltd (ASX:) was up 3.51% or 0.420 points to 12.400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nufarm Ltd (ASX:), which fell 17.53% or 1.080 points to trade at 5.080 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:) declined 6.01% or 0.115 points to end at 1.800 and Service Stream Ltd (ASX:) was down 5.56% or 0.140 points to 2.380.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 608 to 500 and 378 ended unchanged.
Shares in Caltex Australia Ltd (ASX:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.97% or 1.940 to 29.790.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.34% or 5.05 to $1465.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.38% or 0.22 to hit $57.99 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.26 to trade at $62.63 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.13% to 0.6794, while AUD/JPY rose 0.37% to 73.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 98.162.
