(T:) added 4.16% or 63.0 points to end at 1577.0 and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (T:) was up 3.71% or 120.0 points to 3355.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T:), which fell 4.11% or 895.0 points to trade at 20880.0 at the close. Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (T:) declined 3.16% or 16.0 points to end at 491.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:) was down 2.62% or 47.0 points to 1749.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2447 to 1067 and 231 ended unchanged.

USD/JPY was down 0.08% to 108.39, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 120.55.
