The best performers of the session on the were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:), which rose 0.98% or 1.25 points to trade at 129.55 at the close. Meanwhile, Infosys Ltd (NS:) added 0.85% or 6.70 points to end at 793.45 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:) was up 0.86% or 17.75 points to 2079.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:), which fell 8.13% or 21.65 points to trade at 245.25 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) declined 6.42% or 16.15 points to end at 236.85 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:) was down 4.03% or 167.20 points to 3979.55.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which rose 1.03% to 2080.00, Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.99% to settle at 793.25 and Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which gained 0.84% to close at 707.90.
The worst performers were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was down 3.46% to 1560.10 in late trade, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.17% to settle at 413.75 and HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.79% to 1188.95 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1024 to 547 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1549 fell and 936 advanced, while 225 ended unchanged.
Shares in Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd (NS:) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.13% or 21.65 to 245.25.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.14% or 2.05 to $1515.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.21% or 0.11 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.31% or 0.18 to trade at $57.89 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.07% to 70.972, while EUR/INR rose 0.11% to 77.9555.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 98.472.
