New York Community Bancorp Inc (NYSE:NYCB) stock was last down 42% and halted for news pending.
The bank reportedly hired bankers to gauge investor interest in buying stock of the company, Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. NYCB did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters.
