Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 0.78%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.78% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.46%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.41%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe), which rose 3.43% or 1.04 points to trade at 31.34 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Energy AG (ETR:ENR1n) added 2.96% or 0.34 points to end at 11.64 and Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGN) was up 2.85% or 0.88 points to 31.71 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (ETR:FREG), which fell 1.95% or 0.57 points to trade at 28.72 at the close. Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) declined 1.81% or 5.20 points to end at 282.80 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (ETR:HNKG_p) was down 0.68% or 0.50 points to 72.50.

The top performers on the MDAX were Lanxess AG (ETR:LXSG) which rose 5.04% to 24.60, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 4.27% to settle at 15.16 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which gained 4.02% to close at 34.12.

The worst performers were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:GXIG) which was down 3.29% to 85.20 in late trade, Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which lost 2.17% to settle at 76.66 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which was down 2.09% to 37.87 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 11.93% to 27.72, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 4.02% to settle at 34.12 and Kontron AG (ETR:KTN) which gained 3.36% to close at 21.56.

The worst performers were Nemetschek AG O.N. (ETR:NEKG) which was down 2.17% to 76.66 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) which lost 1.81% to settle at 282.80 and Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 1.70% to 81.06 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 390 to 243 and 30 ended unchanged.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 0.44% to 13.62.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.45% or 9.25 to $2,032.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.01% or 0.74 to hit $73.78 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.57 to trade at $78.60 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.42% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 103.95.
