Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.46%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.46%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Platinum Asset Management Ltd (ASX:PTM), which rose 5.47% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.35 at the close. Meanwhile, EML Payments Ltd (ASX:EML) added 4.63% or 0.05 points to end at 1.13 and Resolute Mining Ltd (ASX:RSG) was up 4.48% or 0.02 points to 0.35 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK), which fell 4.88% or 0.07 points to trade at 1.36 at the close. Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) declined 4.46% or 0.09 points to end at 1.93 and Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU) was down 4.41% or 0.19 points to 4.12.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 688 to 536 and 381 ended unchanged.

Shares in Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.46% or 0.09 to 1.93.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 5.35% to 11.16.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.29% or 5.65 to $1,926.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.76% or 0.67 to hit $89.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.65 to trade at $92.53 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY fell 0.01% to 94.69.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.35.
