Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.74%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bapcor Ltd (ASX:BAP), which rose 2.92% or 0.20 points to trade at 7.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Waypoint REIT Ltd (ASX:WPR) added 2.03% or 0.05 points to end at 2.51 and Costa Group Holdings Ltd (ASX:CGC) was up 1.73% or 0.05 points to 2.94 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL), which fell 12.03% or 0.19 points to trade at 1.39 at the close. IGO Ltd (ASX:IGO) declined 7.58% or 1.08 points to end at 13.17 and Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB) was down 6.52% or 0.03 points to 0.43.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 762 to 429 and 423 ended unchanged.

Shares in Bapcor Ltd (ASX:BAP) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.92% or 0.20 to 7.05.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 6.52% to 11.80.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.95 to $1,933.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.64% or 0.57 to hit $89.41 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.56% or 0.52 to trade at $92.58 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 0.64, while AUD/JPY fell 0.07% to 94.45.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 104.34.
