At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.45%, while the S&P 500 index lost 0.42%, and the NASDAQ Composite index lost 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN), which rose 3.11% or 7.86 points to trade at 260.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) added 1.51% or 1.31 points to end at 88.14 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) was up 0.53% or 0.95 points to 179.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Salesforce Inc (NYSE:CRM), which fell 2.08% or 4.49 points to trade at 211.57 at the close. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) declined 2.05% or 7.30 points to end at 348.26 and The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE:TRV) was down 1.32% or 2.25 points to 167.87.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY) which rose 14.83% to 521.44, DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:DISH) which was up 9.56% to settle at 8.37 and Organon & Co (NYSE:OGN) which gained 8.99% to close at 23.76.
The worst performers were International Flavors & Fragrances Inc (NYSE:IFF) which was down 19.38% to 64.77 in late trade, Sealed Air Corporation (NYSE:SEE) which lost 9.53% to settle at 39.88 and DexCom Inc (NASDAQ:DXCM) which was down 8.91% to 110.19 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Bruush Oral Care Inc Unit (NASDAQ:BRSH) which rose 139.13% to 7.70, Vivos Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:VVOS) which was up 53.22% to settle at 0.40 and Infinity Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:INFI) which gained 45.88% to close at 0.13.
The worst performers were Proterra Inc (NASDAQ:PTRA) which was down 88.31% to 0.17 in late trade, Genesis Unicorn Capital Corp (NASDAQ:ESGL) which lost 48.02% to settle at 4.00 and VistaGen Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:VTGN) which was down 43.14% to 7.42 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1835 to 1101 and 76 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2072 fell and 1391 advanced, while 154 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE:LLY) rose to all time highs; up 14.83% or 67.36 to 521.44. Shares in International Flavors & Fragrances Inc (NYSE:IFF) fell to 5-year lows; down 19.38% or 15.57 to 64.77. Shares in Proterra Inc (NASDAQ:PTRA) fell to all time lows; down 88.31% or 1.26 to 0.17. Shares in Genesis Unicorn Capital Corp (NASDAQ:ESGL) fell to all time lows; down 48.02% or 3.69 to 4.00.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 1.40% to 15.99.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.54% or 10.60 to $1,959.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.04% or 0.85 to hit $82.79 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.81% or 0.69 to trade at $86.03 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.43% to 1.10, while USD/JPY rose 0.62% to 143.38.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.50% at 102.37.
