At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.23%, while the MDAX index fell 0.49%, and the TecDAX index fell 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (ETR:DBKGn), which rose 2.36% or 0.23 points to trade at 9.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Munich Reinsurance (ETR:MUVGn) added 1.15% or 3.80 points to end at 335.40 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (ETR:CBKG) was up 0.77% or 0.09 points to 11.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn), which fell 2.14% or 0.41 points to trade at 18.98 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) declined 1.65% or 0.63 points to end at 37.94 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p) was down 1.25% or 3.90 points to 307.70.
The top performers on the MDAX were Krones AG O.N. (ETR:KRNG) which rose 5.35% to 110.20, CTS Eventim AG (ETR:EVDG) which was up 2.31% to settle at 62.00 and Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) which gained 1.77% to close at 47.61.
The worst performers were Befesa SA (ETR:BFSA) which was down 4.90% to 33.40 in late trade, Delivery Hero AG (ETR:DHER) which lost 3.73% to settle at 39.80 and Rational AG (ETR:RAAG) which was down 3.54% to 627.50 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) which rose 5.05% to 28.71, Nordex SE O.N. (ETR:NDXG) which was up 1.40% to settle at 12.33 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which gained 1.12% to close at 32.56.
The worst performers were Nagarro SE (ETR:NA9n) which was down 4.16% to 87.60 in late trade, Eckert & Ziegler AG O.N. (ETR:EUZG) which lost 3.17% to settle at 37.28 and Cancom SE O.N. (ETR:COKG) which was down 2.78% to 25.84 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 405 to 251 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.77% or 0.83 to 47.61. Shares in Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:MORG) rose to 52-week highs; up 5.05% or 1.38 to 28.71.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.79% to 15.88.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.38% or 7.55 to $1,956.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.50% or 1.13 to hit $74.19 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.62% or 1.29 to trade at $78.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.58.
