France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.23%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.23%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.20%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Worldline SA (EPA:WLN), which rose 3.52% or 1.22 points to trade at 35.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA:URW) added 3.02% or 1.46 points to end at 49.78 and Capgemini SE (EPA:CAPP) was up 1.50% or 2.60 points to 176.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 2.98% or 0.81 points to trade at 26.34 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) declined 1.95% or 0.34 points to end at 17.05 and Renault SA (EPA:RENA) was down 1.75% or 0.68 points to 37.86.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which rose 16.22% to 4.57, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was up 8.22% to settle at 14.29 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which gained 3.52% to close at 35.91.

The worst performers were Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which was down 9.04% to 246.50 in late trade, Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which lost 2.98% to settle at 26.34 and Technip Energies BV (EPA:TE) which was down 1.98% to 20.74 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 275 to 261 and 86 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 2.25 to $1,931.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.15% or 1.50 to hit $71.29 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.14% or 1.60 to trade at $76.25 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 102.66.
