Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.12%

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.12%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Downer Edi Ltd (ASX:DOW), which rose 4.31% or 0.17 points to trade at 4.11 at the close. Meanwhile, Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:PBH) added 3.47% or 0.06 points to end at 1.79 and St Barbara Ltd (ASX:SBM) was up 3.23% or 0.02 points to 0.48 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK), which fell 13.92% or 0.27 points to trade at 1.67 at the close. Kogan.com Ltd (ASX:KGN) declined 4.72% or 0.24 points to end at 4.85 and Perenti Global Ltd (ASX:PRN) was down 4.21% or 0.05 points to 1.02.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 784 to 562 and 456 ended unchanged.

Shares in Link Administration Holdings Ltd (ASX:LNK) fell to all time lows; down 13.92% or 0.27 to 1.67.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 5.06% to 10.78.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.24% or 4.60 to $1,913.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.43% or 0.30 to hit $70.16 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.51% or 0.38 to trade at $74.89 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY rose 0.13% to 95.91.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.05.
