France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.29%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.29%, while the SBF 120 index added 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STMPA), which rose 2.23% or 0.95 points to trade at 43.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) added 1.73% or 0.24 points to end at 14.36 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was up 1.48% or 0.47 points to 32.28 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which fell 2.60% or 3.50 points to trade at 131.15 at the close. Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) declined 1.44% or 2.20 points to end at 150.95 and Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST) was down 0.82% or 0.32 points to 39.35.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES Imagotag (EPA:SESL) which rose 15.80% to 80.60, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was up 6.12% to settle at 2.12 and Arkema SA (EPA:AKE) which gained 2.30% to close at 81.96.

The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 5.43% to 6.93 in late trade, Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which lost 4.85% to settle at 7.46 and Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which was down 4.31% to 10.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 300 to 230 and 99 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.21% or 4.05 to $1,933.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.01% or 0.70 to hit $69.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.74 to trade at $74.75 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 102.38.
