France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 1.01%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.01%, while the SBF 120 index fell 1.08%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (EPA:SAF), which rose 1.74% or 2.44 points to trade at 142.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale SA (EPA:SOGN) added 0.47% or 0.11 points to end at 23.34 and BNP Paribas SA (EPA:BNPP) was up 0.42% or 0.24 points to 56.81 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF), which fell 4.00% or 4.42 points to trade at 106.06 at the close. Air Liquide SA (EPA:AIRP) declined 3.83% or 6.44 points to end at 161.50 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was down 2.61% or 0.91 points to 33.89.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Getlink SE (EPA:GETP) which rose 2.22% to 15.91, SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which was up 2.14% to settle at 90.75 and Euroapi SAS (EPA:EAPI) which gained 2.08% to close at 10.82.

The worst performers were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which was down 14.70% to 2.18 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (EPA:STDM) which lost 12.80% to settle at 241.10 and Eiffage SA (EPA:FOUG) which was down 5.41% to 95.54 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 334 to 197 and 97 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 9.25 to $1,961.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.83% or 0.60 to hit $71.33 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.65% or 0.50 to trade at $76.11 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.22% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 102.13.
