France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.05%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.05%, while the SBF 120 index gained 0.06%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 5.23% or 1.28 points to trade at 25.75 at the close. Meanwhile, AXA SA (EPA:AXAF) added 2.43% or 0.65 points to end at 27.60 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) was up 1.10% or 6.00 points to 551.40 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX), which fell 0.74% or 1.38 points to trade at 184.76 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) declined 0.58% or 0.09 points to end at 14.78 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was down 0.54% or 0.38 points to 69.38.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 6.27% to 5.96, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 5.54% to settle at 3.81 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which gained 5.23% to close at 25.75.

The worst performers were Ipsos (EPA:ISOS) which was down 1.69% to 47.76 in late trade, SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which lost 1.61% to settle at 104.00 and Aeroports de Paris SA (EPA:ADP) which was down 1.42% to 138.60 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 276 to 248 and 105 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.27% or 5.45 to $2,025.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.06% or 1.44 to hit $71.48 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.89% or 1.40 to trade at $75.57 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.29% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.30% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 102.23.
