The House of Representatives could vote as soon as Wednesday on a bill to raise the U.S. borrowing limit, a measure President Joe Biden has threatened to veto as a standoff with congressional Republicans continues.
Republicans made a few changes overnight in a bid to win more support for the measure, which would raise the debt ceiling in exchange for spending cuts. Biden has insisted that the debt limit be raised without conditions, while House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and his fellow Republicans insist on attaching them.
