Germany stocks higher at close of trade; DAX up 1.23%

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 1.23%, while the MDAX index added 1.21%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.14%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn), which rose 6.90% or 2.32 points to trade at 35.88 at the close. Meanwhile, Vonovia SE (ETR:VNAn) added 5.65% or 0.88 points to end at 16.54 and Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGN) was up 3.71% or 5.24 points to 146.42 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mercedes Benz Group AG (ETR:MBGn), which fell 2.13% or 1.53 points to trade at 70.36 at the close. Siemens Healthineers AG (ETR:SHLG) declined 0.85% or 0.44 points to end at 51.04 and Daimler Truck Holding AG (ETR:DTGGe) was down 0.77% or 0.24 points to 30.39.

The top performers on the MDAX were Tag Immobilien AG (ETR:TEGG) which rose 6.80% to 5.89, HelloFresh SE (ETR:HFGG) which was up 5.61% to settle at 18.75 and Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which gained 4.78% to close at 30.91.

The worst performers were Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) which was down 5.61% to 15.14 in late trade, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which lost 2.99% to settle at 123.25 and Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which was down 2.48% to 30.64 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (ETR:IFXGn) which rose 6.90% to 35.88, Aixtron SE (ETR:AIXGn) which was up 4.78% to settle at 30.91 and Suse SA (ETR:SUSEG) which gained 3.21% to close at 15.75.

The worst performers were Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (ETR:AFXG) which was down 2.99% to 123.25 in late trade, Jenoptik AG (ETR:JENGn) which lost 2.48% to settle at 30.64 and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG) which was down 1.90% to 33.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 482 to 182 and 87 ended unchanged.

Shares in Encavis AG (ETR:ECVG) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.61% or 0.90 to 15.14.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.08% to 19.69.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.36% or 7.20 to $1,983.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.10% or 0.07 to hit $73.27 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.39 to trade at $77.75 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 102.38.
