Snap (NYSE:SNAP) announced Monday that it is beginning to roll out an AI chatbot, with The Verge reporting that it is powered by the latest version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The “My AI” chatbot will be rolled out to Snapchat+ subscribers in the US and is pinned inside user chats.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel, speaking to The Verge, said that the product is a bet that AI chatbots will become increasingly part of everyday life for more people, while the company’s goal is to eventually make it available for all of its users.

Spiegel told the publication that the big idea is that people will begin talking to friends, family, and AI daily.

My AI is a mobile-friendly version of ChatGPT inside Snapchat, but it is more restricted in what it can answer, with Snap having trained it to adhere to its trust and safety guidelines.

In addition, it is said to have been stripped of certain functions, such as writing academic essays about various topics.

Snap shares have climbed more than 2% on Monday following the news.
