France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.21%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.21%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 1.57% or 1.90 points to trade at 123.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) added 1.49% or 8.30 points to end at 566.00 and Danone SA (EPA:DANO) was up 1.16% or 0.57 points to 50.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 4.12% or 1.58 points to trade at 36.63 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.78% or 0.52 points to end at 28.91 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) was down 1.46% or 0.79 points to 53.40.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alten SA (EPA:LTEN) which rose 1.80% to 141.10, Thales (EPA:TCFP) which was up 1.57% to settle at 123.20 and BIC (EPA:BICP) which gained 1.53% to close at 66.20.

The worst performers were Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 8.99% to 3.02 in late trade, JC Decaux SA (EPA:JCDX) which lost 5.67% to settle at 20.62 and SES Imagotag (EPA:SESL) which was down 4.64% to 111.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 340 to 219 and 81 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 5.50 to $1,923.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.38% or 1.10 to hit $78.58 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.40% or 1.21 to trade at $85.19 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.21% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 101.96.
