France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.09%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.09%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (EPA:VIE), which rose 1.21% or 0.33 points to trade at 27.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) added 1.10% or 0.14 points to end at 13.10 and Air Liquide SA (EPA:AIRP) was up 1.01% or 1.46 points to 146.14 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (EPA:DAST), which fell 1.79% or 0.62 points to trade at 34.10 at the close. Thales (EPA:TCFP) declined 1.38% or 1.70 points to end at 121.20 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was down 1.06% or 0.68 points to 63.60.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which rose 3.37% to 6.99, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 2.08% to settle at 13.24 and BIC (EPA:BICP) which gained 1.71% to close at 65.45.

The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 5.50% to 6.32 in late trade, Inter Parfums Inc. (EPA:IPAR) which lost 4.05% to settle at 59.20 and Sopra Steria Group SA (EPA:SOPR) which was down 3.96% to 150.40 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 324 to 229 and 75 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.16% or 3.00 to $1,938.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.30% or 0.24 to hit $79.89 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.50 to trade at $85.63 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 101.55.
