France stocks lower at close of trade; CAC 40 down 0.22%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.22%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.10% or 0.80 points to trade at 26.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (EPA:SGOB) added 2.05% or 1.03 points to end at 51.37 and Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) was up 1.37% or 7.00 points to 518.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI), which fell 2.82% or 1.92 points to trade at 66.14 at the close. Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR) declined 2.15% or 0.35 points to end at 15.72 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was down 2.08% or 1.92 points to 90.35.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (EPA:GEPH) which rose 6.88% to 0.65, Solutions 30 SE (EPA:S30) which was up 4.77% to settle at 2.06 and Inter Parfums Inc. (EPA:IPAR) which gained 4.48% to close at 60.60.

The worst performers were Trigano SA (EPA:TRIA) which was down 4.60% to 120.40 in late trade, SES Imagotag (EPA:SESL) which lost 4.36% to settle at 109.80 and Ubisoft Entertainment (EPA:UBIP) which was down 3.48% to 26.94 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 290 to 267 and 79 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.08% or 20.10 to $1,838.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.43% or 1.04 to hit $73.88 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 0.88 to trade at $78.72 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP rose 0.59% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.81% at 104.86.
