France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 2.30%

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.30% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index added 2.14%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which rose 6.46% or 1.50 points to trade at 24.72 at the close. Meanwhile, L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) added 5.25% or 17.75 points to end at 356.15 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) was up 5.01% or 35.20 points to 738.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which fell 2.34% or 1.38 points to trade at 57.60 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) declined 1.94% or 0.26 points to end at 13.25 and Thales (EPA:TCFP) was down 1.81% or 2.10 points to 113.95.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were SCOR SE (EPA:SCOR) which rose 7.53% to 24.00, Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was up 6.79% to settle at 3.78 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which gained 6.46% to close at 24.72.

The worst performers were Ovh Groupe SAS (EPA:OVH) which was down 5.42% to 15.10 in late trade, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which lost 5.15% to settle at 11.60 and SES Imagotag (EPA:SESL) which was down 5.12% to 114.80 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 322 to 216 and 90 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.56% or 10.25 to $1,856.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 4.38% or 3.37 to hit $73.56 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 4.24% or 3.48 to trade at $78.62 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.28% to 0.88.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 103.99.
