At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.95%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (EPA:ORAN), which rose 0.66% or 0.06 points to trade at 9.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR) added 0.24% or 0.02 points to end at 9.75 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was up 0.22% or 0.20 points to 91.29 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 3.72% or 1.21 points to trade at 31.21 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (EPA:STM) declined 3.47% or 1.22 points to end at 33.90 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLA) was down 3.22% or 0.44 points to 13.11.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 2.03% to 6.73, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 1.62% to settle at 12.52 and SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which gained 1.62% to close at 78.40.
The worst performers were Derichebourg (EPA:DBG) which was down 5.32% to 5.25 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 5.26% to settle at 5.79 and Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 4.49% to 16.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 320 to 226 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.26% or 0.32 to 5.79.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.33% or 24.25 to $1,801.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.43% or 1.12 to hit $77.17 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.67% or 1.37 to trade at $80.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.06, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.36% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 104.21.
